Volunteers do the hard work
It takes an enormous collective effort to ensure that the world's toughest
ski race is a success. Every year, over two-hundred volunteers are involved
behind the scene. Several months before the race has even started. It is
great fun to be an official, though it is fairly hard work. Especially the
last two weeks before the race are tough; everybody works day and night to
have everything ready for the race. Apart from it being a personal
challenge, being a volunteer also means the chance to acquire new
qualifications which may be employed in one's line of work. At the official
meetings the ACR spirit and the commitment grow. Moreover, technical
problems are solved by small specialized groups.
