Hotel Narsarsuaq is a modern and well-equipped hotel. It will satisfy the needs of not only traditional tourists but also incentive travellers or any conference held by your company.
 
Narsarsuaq was build by the Americans in 1941. Narsarsuaq, which means "large plain" in Greenlandic, was perfect as a landing strip. And it served as so during World War 2 and the Korea War but lost its strategic importance after 1958 when the Americans left the base.
 
After the fatal disaster with the ship “Hans Hedtoft” in January 1959 it was decided to open the airport as base for ice reckon and civil airtraffic and it has been used as so since.
 
In the hotel excursions are offered by various agencies and Greenlandic outfitters. There are various tours to the Ice Cap, helicoptertrips or only 20 minutes of sailing across the fjord to the small settlement Qassiarsuk.
 
After a beautiful hike to the Ice cap and back, half an hour in the hotel sauna or gym is a good day to end the day. Even though I do not believe it should be necessary to spend time on it, you have the possibility to chose from several American and Canadian TV-channels in your room.
 
The restaurant offer a varied buffet or traditional Greenlandic products such as salmon, seal, whale, prawns and of course lamb, the national dish of South Greenland. The popular western menu with steak and beef etc. is also at hand.
