Tours on Land

Hiking on your own:
The area around Narsaq offers perfect conditions for hiking of both long and short duration. From Narsarsuaq hikers have easy access to the amazing Valley of Flowers, and several routes can take hikers to viewpoints from which the two closest glaciers can be seen.

Across the fiord, from the settlement of Qassiarsuk, dirt roads may be followed to the sheep-farms and youth hostels of Tasiusaq and Nunataaq.

From Qingua in the bottom of the great Tunulliarfik Fiord, it is possible to hike across the Narsaq Peninsula to the mighty Qajuuttat glacier.

Being in Qassiarsuk also makes it possible to reach Narsaq on foot, going from youth hostel to youth hostel or just sleeping in tent by the many streams with fresh water you'll find in the mountains.

The area around Narsaq is beautiful with the fertile valley, green mountains and bluish icebergs. Shorter half-day and full-day hikes can be made here.

Coming from Narsarsuaq hikers can go by ferry to the small harbour of Itilleq, and from there walk to Igaliku, only 3,5 km away. Igaliku, the old Norse Episcopal residence, is situated on the Qaqortoq peninsula, thus making it possible to hike from the village to Qaqortoq.

Either before arriving or upon arrival hikers should purchase the three hiking maps recently made, and are also advised to contact the staff at the youth hostels or Tourist Informations for details and information concerning routes.
