ABOUT NORDIC ADVENTURE/ CONTACT US/ NEWS AND OFFERS

Nordic Adventure - a travel agency with special expertise
As an alternative to traditional travel agencies, Nordic Adventure offers companies, associations, and other groups special custom-designed trips and events in Greenland, Iceland, and the Faeroe Islands.
The initial focus is on the multitude of possibilities that Greenland and Iceland offers, but in the longer run, this focus will also include the Faeroe Islands.
Iceland is perhaps more accessible for travellers than for instance Greenland. Iceland has many possibilities for shopping, having the right brands, there are many restaurants, and a lively nightlife. And most of all; Iceland has the most amazing nature just around the corner, waiting to be explored. The Icelandic conference hotels are of a very high standard- so for companies as well as private guests, Iceland has a lot of fantastic offers.
Greenland is one of the most fantastic places on earth. And this, the world's greatest Island, attracts more and more travellers from all over the world. Greenland is a dream destination for many people, but the expectation of unreasonable prices have until now kept a lot of guests away.
Actually a conference/seminar to Greenland, for a group of 10 participants, costs only little or no more than a similar stay with full room and board in Denmark, and this includes the transportation. And precisely the primary services to groups, such as companies, private or public associations, organisations and other interest groups, are the target of Nordic Adventure.
"The differences between a conference held in Greenland and one held in Denmark are obvious. The beautiful, majestic, and very different countryside of Greenland, offers the participants every possibility of being enriched both spiritually and physically. The extraordinary setting and scenery may be exactly what is needed to get the right decisions made, to build true team spirit, to stimulate creative thinking, or to simply make teams work together."
Words spoken by Lene Mortensen, manager and co-founder of Nordic Adventure: "The fundamental idea behind Nordic Adventure - is not just the unique experience itself, but also the enhanced opportunity of returning home enriched, with something different, having achieved more than what would have been possible in other surroundings. On top of that, confirming that this is not an extravagant undertaking, at least not financially. We want to exploit the destinations' offerings and our expertise and core competence on Greenland, Iceland, and the Faeroe Islands, to provide a different and improved level of service to companies, associations, and other groups.
There is an unexploited potential in offering exactly this target group a new dimension, to support conflict resolution, strategy planning, developing and communicating campaigns within a company, etc."
Lene Mortensen continues: "There are more players and fewer customers in the travel business, so why another travel agency? Well, there are no major players in the area of highly specialized, very focused and custom-built services like ours, for these target groups; and we believe the need is there. It is an obvious opportunity to diversify and spread the possibilities of the travel destinations to include more untraditional settings. Those who go have experienced how it is to come back with that "something else", something else than going to more traditional places, or renting a hut in the forest for one weekend, to "think thoughts". This "something else" must be used and channelled, and our suggestion is to use Nordic Adventure's offering as a way or a means to further develop people and groups in a common connection, and at the same time, give the individual an experience for life".
"In Greenland, the ceiling is very high, it is a rough nature, which can be used and explored, and it is a place, where limits may be moved. The simple act of being in these incredible surroundings can change perspectives and open eyes. It would be a pity not to use this opportunity more focused - and in this respect we will do our outmost to provide and add value to our clients".
Theme Travel - Travel for more
An additional offer will be our Theme Travel. We believe that many people are seeking for a certain level of authenticity when they travel - a valid statement, no matter whether the destination is Vietnam or Greenland. We have close contacts to a large number of cities, institutions and privates in Greenland, and we are able to offer trips according to specific wishes of the clients.
If there is a strong historical interest, we would arrange the trips to include some of the wonderful areas, which may be explored for its ruins that date back to the very first Vikings who arrived and settled in Greenland. If you go to some of the old hamlets that lie scattered along the fiord coasts, you will meet the old citizens who can tell you stories from a time passed, a time filled with superstition, animal spirits, special Eskimo traditions, etc. There are many other special interests, which may be challenged in very unusual surroundings, for example diving, climbing, hunting, fishing, etc. Other interests extend into areas like household training and exhibitions, etc. Many interest groups make trips to explore and experience the world, and it can be difficult to simply open a catalogue and find the trip they are looking for. It must be designed to the specific needs of the client, and it is our job to communicate which experiences each of the different destinations have to offer.
Events - of the extraordinary
In a number of companies, there are employee-, art-associations or the like, who organize special events, such as exhibitions, lectures, etc.
Many have interests in Greenland, and are looking for cultural experiences, without having to actually travel to Greenland. Through our extensive network, we are able to offer arrangements like exhibitions, evenings with culinary experiences from Greenland, lectures about Greenland, telling stories from the Greenland nature and culture. In order to bring more entertainment, we can also arrange fashion shows, exhibitions with live Greenland household crafts, working artists, etc.
Behind the scenes
The staff behind the new company has a solid experience from private business life, interest groups, and the travel business, and has a love for and a deep knowledge of the Greenlandic nature and culture.
In the office you will meet Steen Broen Jensen, Frida Waaben, and Lene Mortensen.
Steen Broen Jensen is a former member of the Sirius Patrol, and was a member of the Expedition Sirius 2000, whose members also included the Danish Crown Prince Frederik. The expedition went on dog sleds to explore the northern part of Greenland.
Besides, Steen has for the last 3 years been involved with Teambuilding, Personal Development, and other courses, in his company Sirius Unity, and has a broad network within Danish business life. Steen has special competence in the area of planning and logistics of expeditions, and also arranging experience- and teambuilding trips of more demanding art in the extreme northern (incl. Thule area) and eastern parts of Greenland.
Frida Waaben has her education within the travel business and has been an employee at both Greenland Travel and Team Arctic, where she has been responsible for customer relationships and booking. Frida is born in Greenland, and through her personal and professional background, she has a thorough knowledge and expertise of the 3 main destinations, Greenland, Iceland, and the Faeroe Islands, naturally with a special intimate relationship to Greenland.
Lene Mortensen has a broad experience in business, from the public as well as the private arena, the last 3 years as head of marketing at Greenland Travel Agency in Copenhagen. As the managing director of Nordic Adventure, Lene will be able to draw from her vast experience arranging training courses, conferences, events, and shows. Lene has for a number of years worked in this field in her roll as project leader in the Danish Marketing Association, and she will exploit and combine her knowledge from both worlds.
The company is also represented in Greenland. In Nuuk is Otto S. Nielsen, who has lived and worked in the capital of Greenland for the last 15 years. Otto S. Nielsen has worked 10 years as General Manager of Securitas in Nuuk. This has provided a very wide contact group, and he has through his experiences built up specific knowledge of the possibilities of experiencing the many facets of the local society in Greenland.
Otto will not participate in the company activities on a daily basis, but he contributes with his knowledge, and he is ready to receive guests and travellers and make sure that the local corporation functions smoothly.
Surroundings that influence body and soul amplify our impressions and the decisions we have to make. Many of us have held important meetings at traditional conference centres, and may have a difficult time distinguishing one from another. That is where we can help make a difference. Through our network of contacts in Greenland, through the experience and background of the staff, and through the many ideas we look forward to presenting. We believe we can help make a difference and contribute to unforgettable experiences for a lot of people.
And with these words we welcome you to Nordic Adventure.
